Activities

In Puerto Vallarta, there are numerous activities to choose from. We picked out a few of our favorites from adventure to night life. Happy exploring!
Beaches

Our favorite beach spot is Green Chairs (Ritmos Beach Club). It is located next to Blue Chairs (also popular but smaller and we don’t like the food as much).

The food at Green Chairs is great and we always enjoy lunch on the beach. The Tex Mex Bowls, the chicken nachos, and even the chicken soup for those that might need a little hydration, are all highly recommended. Order a Miami Vice. It is 1/2 strawberry daiquiri and 1/2 piña colada. Yummy! There is a full bar with drinks for everyone!

If you’re looking for something off the sand, try Mantamar Beach Club. It has light blue umbrellas just south of the Green Chairs. They have clean showers, good food selection, and a fresh water pool with swim up bar.

Beach Activities

While on the beach, try fly boarding, parasailing, jet skis, paddle boards, the banana boat, or snorkeling. All are very inexpensive and fun! Always remember to negotiate on the prices.

Night Scene

Where to start? The lounge in our building of course! It has great drinks and is a perfect place to watch the sunset. Puerto Vallarta has something for everyone.

We are more familiar with the gay scene, but there are plenty of bars that meet every need, and all bars are accepting of everyone. For a low key piano bar, Garbo’s is a must. It is just down the steps from our condo. Check the schedule for nightly live music events.

Afterwards head to Mr. Flamingo’s, Blondie’s or La Margarita’s. All video type bars. As the night progresses try La Noche. Don’t stop on the first floor. Make sure to go to the top to avoid the noise and see the view.

The big dance clubs are Paco’s Ranch and CC Slaughters. Both pick up quite late, but if you’re a night owl and like to dance, you won’t be disappointed. Paco’s also has drag shows, so check their schedule.

Botanical Gardens

A 30 minute taxi from our condo are the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. They are amazing! Take your camera because there is always something blooming.

Day cruises

There are many options for day cruises. Diana’s Tours offers the best. Not only does she offer day cruises she offers many tours and activities. We have done her day cruise and used her to book many other activities. She is honest and dependable. There is a pirate boat cruise that goes out every night although we have not done that yet – we have heard great things about it.

For something a little more on the ‘wild’ side you can also check out the Wet-n-Wild cruise. This is an all-male gay cruise. We haven’t done it…but have heard it can be fun.

Rhythms of the Night

We haven’t done this one yet, but some of our friends did and loved it. A short cruise takes you to a secluded cove. You are greeted and entertained with acrobatics, dancing, amazing costumes, and great food. Check out Vallarta Adventures for more information.

Marietta Islands

If you don’t get sea sick easily, this is a must see. The sunken island is interesting, but don’t forget the beautiful untouched islands behind the main island. The sand is amazing, and this is where we’ve done the best snorkeling. Snorkeling closer to Puerto Vallarta can sometimes be too cloudy.

Live shows

The Red Room and Act II. All the big drag shows eventually make their way to PV. Miss Richfield. Coco Peru. Kinsey Sicks. Just to name a few. If you get a chance to see Kim Kuzma, you will be taken away to another time and place. You will really feel Mexico when she sings.

Walking distance from our condo

From our condo, a walk to the Malecón along the beach is amazing. Along the way visit the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Old Vallarta across the river with its small shops, watch the fishermen shuck oysters and make ceviche under the pier (you’ll see these things being sold later at the beach), and stroll through the art district (some great art shops). The Old Town Farmer’s Market usually has a craft and food market on the weekends.
