Bravos

Bravos, in our opinion, the best food in old town right now. The Bang Bang Shrimp are amazing! The ribs, fabulous! The pasta dishes like you were in Italy! We’ve never had a bad meal here.

Café de Artiste

Café de Artiste, one of the most romantic places in PV. Great for special occasions. Try to sit outside under the tree canopy if the weather is nice. Great food, great service, and amazing atmosphere for a romantic dinner. It is probably the most expensive restaurant in old town, but only because all the other restaurants are so inexpensive compared to US restaurants. It’s worth it!

Iguana

For a special evening out, you shouldn’t miss the former Puerto Vallarta home of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The Iguana Restaurant & Tequila Bar has amazing food, atmosphere, views, and service all for an amazingly affordable price – it is simply an evening you will never forget. Don’t forget to walk over the bridge to Richard Burton’s house. Sunset is definitely the best time to go.

Vista Grill

Another romantic spot is Vista Grill. Plan on coming here for sunset, since you have a full 180 degree view of the sun setting over Banderas Bay.

Taste Restaurant at Casa Cupula

We did not find this hidden gem the first few times we went to Puerto Vallarta, but now that we’ve found it, we love it. We typically dine at Casa Cupula for breakfast (the food is so fresh and tasty), but they also have a great dinner.

Fredy’s Tucans

If you want a good American breakfast Fredy’s Tucan is the place to go. Don’t skip the pastries they bring before your main breakfast. They are out of this world!

Coco’s Kitchen

Coco’s Kitchen is straight down the hill from our condo. Great food and service. We go here every trip.

Fusion Gourmet

Fusion Gourmet is another favorite of ours for breakfast! Great outdoor seating and a lovely place to sit and people watch as people awake to the beauty of PV.   Try the muchaca. Very tasty!

La Palapa

La Palapa is a Puerto Vallarta staple. We love to sit on the beach and have lunch the day we arrive to begin our vacation at our second home. Dinner – can we say sunsets! Right on the beach!

Joe Jack’s Fish Shack

Amazing fish and shrimp – fried, grilled or however you like it! Great drinks. Supposedly great salads, but can’t help you much there… 🙂 Joe Jack’s Fish Shack has an all you can eat night, so check their schedule.

Archie’s Wok

Archie’s Wok is an interesting fusion of Asian food with Mexican food. Expect cilantro in your Asian food. You won’t find this combination of spices anywhere else in the world.

Ocean Grill

It is only open Wednesday through Monday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We took a boat from Los Muertos pier (you can rent a private boat for a few hours for around $100), and it will take you South of PV to a private beach and Ocean Grill overlooks a lovely bay. Great food. Great ambience. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, highly recommended.

Tacos Revolucion

Not as popular as Panchos Tacos (which is very good), but great street tacos off the street. Tacos Revolucion is simple, fresh, and very tasty.

The Swedes Bar and Bistro

Half way down the steps from our condo is a great bar/restaurant owed by, you guessed it, a Swede. The Swedes Bar and Bistro has great service, yummy food and tasty drinks.

Tapas de Barcelona

Tapas de Barcelona is a bit of a walk, but great views and amazing tapas. It’s worth it!

Trio

We recently found Trio on a trip to Puerto Vallarta. They have soufflés both savory and sweet!! The food is amazing! It is a combination Mediterranean/Italian restaurant. The ambience is something like old world Italy and old world Mexico. It is just amazing. Go and enjoy the atmosphere and service. It is an easy walk down the Malecon from our condo to the restaurant.
